Biography

I think of a painting as a visual poem. Pieces of information are given and a lot of things are just suggested. Color suggests things, animals bring things to mind, trees, clouds, men, woman, angels inspire ideas. Painting has its limitations. It is always one frame at a time. The power of painting is that not everything needs to be said. I like that a painting can tell a story and not have to be absolutely specific. I like not having to be forceful in presenting meanings. I try to create a place where the viewer has some freedom to wander. Painting requires a viewer, someone who gives time, attention and appreciation, a person who lets the story unfold.
