Collin Margerum b.1985 started drawing before he could speak and has never let more than a few days pass without creating at least one sketch. Creation is his preferred method of communication, specifically the creation of two dimensional artworks. He works with a mixture of charcoal, soft pastels, oil stick, and acrylic.
These materials converge on an autonomously defaced wood panel, with the purpose of examining the most contemporary issues facing the human condition. Our modern existence, defined by scientific discovery, sensationalist media, exponential growth in technology, tumultuous political discourse, and an unbridled sense of entitlement, collide with the ancient philosophies that brought them to bear: Collin’s expressive, elaborate, phantasmagorical narratives are the aftershock.
